Given one day’s worth of images from a video camera with timestamps, it is possible to determine sunrise and sunset using convolutional neural networks. From sunrise and sunset, the latitude and longitude of the camera can also be determined with relatively simple mathematical equations. With a dataset of a year’s worth of images over 295 locations, my method was able to determine location with under 100 km accuracy. This has applications towards finding live streamers or creating web crawlers for cameras.
