Abstract

Abstract An open standards based modular OR integration system has been designed, which is modelled as component-based service- oriented architecture. Medical devices, hardware and software are integrated as independent components and interconnected through a TCP/IP based Ethernet network. As a result, the modular OR system provides the entire functionality at a central user interface and integrates 1st) data, 2nd) functions, 3rd) applications, and 4th) electronic context. An open source C++ class library has been developed, which abstracts the underlying communication protocols and provides and easy-to use programming interface for application developers.
