Object-Centered Description for Analysis and Display of the Cerebral Vascularity
T. Koller, G. Gerig and G. Székely
CAR'95 Computer Assisted Radiology
June 1995
Abstract
This paper present a new prototypical system for the comprehensive
analysis of the cerebral vascularity. The geometrical shape and the
topology of the vessel tree is segmented from MRA volume data and is
fused with additional information about local blood flow. Interactive
manipulation tools make use of this rich model and of the
object-oriented data structure, providing an interactive display of
vascularity which goes by far beyond a simple 3-D rendering.
Several case studies demonstrate the potential usage for structure
identification, definition of landmarks, assessment of topology for
catheterization, visualization of blood flow and simulation of bolus
injection.
